It was a beautiful autumn day in rural Virginia- all the motorcycles, and classic cars were out for the Sunday drive!

Carly featured on Induro Blog!

Induro:  tripods, monopods and heads, has started a new facebook fan feature on their blog and I'm flattered to be the first photographer featured!!

Some of my "pet" photography was showcased!

Thanks to all at Induro! :)

Hip Magazine Holiday Editorial

This fall in Lisbon we had the opportunity to shoot at Pestana Palace, which is a beautiful palace-turned-hotel that hosts celebrities and dignitaries, like Madonna. We were commissioned to shoot the Holiday editorial for HIP Magazine, a magazine for the pharmaceutical trade industry. The boys over at SniperShot pulled the whole thing together, Joao photographed and Carly did makeup and hair. We were inspired by the beautiful location, and wanted to bring a bit of NYC to the Palace, and wanted to capture a bit of that "UpperEastSide" rich-kids-playing-grownups vibe.

New Editorial! "Mini from Mars"

Here's a few screenshots from one of our latest editorials published! Iconography Magazine. This was shot outside Vegas in a dry lakebed, and we took inspiration for the whole shoot from the location and the Minnie Mouse ears we nabbed @ Disneyland!  Our good friend, who is no stranger to this blog, Tyler Keeler, assisted. Nevada is a beautiful place, kinda the last frontier of population.

Our DropIt Modern Backdrops Arrived!!!!!

Announcing a new partnership between MilkmanStudio Productions and backdrop specialists extraordinaire- drop it MODERN!!! We're all about teaming up with companies that help photographers really stretch their creativity and get outta that "box"! This is definitely one of those products!

We had the pleasure of being introduced to DIM @ the PDN PhotoPlus Expo in October in NYC. Kelli Avila has been sooo helpful in this new collaboration in helping Joao and me choose the best backdrops for our editorial, advertising, portrait and fine art needs- which is a new market for the company- and we are sooo excited to get shooting.

I cannot stress the quality of the backdrops- they're a very heavy grade canvas (see detail pic below) with velvet burnout accents. They are available in a variety of sizes: 4.5ft X 6, 9 or 12ft; 9ft x 9ft and 9ft x12ft. The best part: They fold or roll up for VERY convenient packing/transporting, and are dry-cleanable- NO MORE FOOTPRINTS!

Each print is limited edition- meaning they're seasonal- and hand designed by Breanne Schaap. The new line will also be priced at 40% less than the 2008 line, with backdrops starting as low as $100.00!  Each backdrop is equipped with a 2.5” diameter loop at the top and bottom in order to put a support system in place. They're worth the investment- and let's face it: ECO FRIENDLY! Why use paper that tears, and has to be tossed in the recycle bin at the end of the day?

Here's the swatches for the backdrops we received today:

We were recently featured on the DIM BLOG! Check it out for more of their info. There's some really creative stuff already shot using the backdrops- we have our work cut out for us! :)

Here's a few more images I took today of one of our "Favorite Things of 2010":

They arrive wrapped up like Christmas Morning! Each backdrop includes a hand-signed "thank you" note from Breanne herself!

Stay tuned for the new shots with our drop it MODERN backdrops!

From Liege, Belgium....

Liege was a pretty magical place. I had the pleasure of spending 4 days with some amazing people, new friends, really. It was like a scene from a Bourne movie- grey and cloudy, river barges, narrow streets and a cattle-call of architectural styles. Each new block was a different storybook page. I'm awaiting my return :)
This month's Blast Magazine destination article is on Liege. My author page is HERE This  is  preview- the article will post in the next day or two. :)

Advertising Campaign for Banif featuring Rui Veloso

Advertising campaign for Banif featuring Rui Veloso

I was commissioned as the photographer for the new Banif ad campaign. The concept was to make a 'bucket list' with Portuguese singing sensation Rui Veloso, signifying that life doesn't end at 50 or 60, but there are many adventures ahead. This image shows him living as a Steve McQueen inspired race-car pilot. Future images in the campain show Veloso as other adventuring personalities.

The campaign was shot in Portugal and Mocambique, for Banif's website, windows, ads, billboards with the campaign to stretch out over a year. Here is the first released image, which is already receiving buzz on various sites like Briefing and Meios & Publicidade.
I shot many images of the tribe and the National Park and I intend to publish a book with this material. You can search the Blog for a sneak peak.
The Creativity for the campaign was conceived by Brandia Central
This Fantastic Production was a co Production between SniperShot and Miss Dolores
Post Production was conceived by Alexandre Garcia at Snipershot .
I have to say it has been a Pleasure and honor to work with the Fabulous trio of Sniper Shot , Nuno Mendes,Alexandre Garcia and Diogo Teixeira Lopes muito muito Obrigado . Thank you for your support and trust and all around amazing working relationship created between Snipershot Productions and Milkmanstudio.

A Shenandoah Autumn....

These beautiful foliage pics are from a visit to the Shenandoah Mts in Virginia. The valley never seems to disappoint me when I visit no matter the season. To think of the soldiers and the settlers and the raw land makes me a bit misty eyed ;)

Remnants of a Bloodless Revolution....

The Fortaleza (Fort) of Peniche was in use through the infamous Carnation Revolution of 1974....you can read more about that on my travel article. These are images from within the prison that held political prisoners.

Mosteiro da Batalha, an Unfinished Masterpiece

An enormous feat of engineering and elegance, Batalha is a monastery that survived several architects' musings, and in fact, remains unfinished. Construction began in the 1300s, and was stopped in the 1500s. Kings, Knights, one of the architects, Mateus Fernandes and his wife lay to rest here as well as a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, on guard night and day by select members of the Portuguese army.
